Врахування специфіки українського менталітету в роботі викладачів вищої школи

Abstract

У статті досліджуєтьсяформування і розвиток поняття «ментальність» у зарубіжній та вітчизняній науковій думці, визначаються причини необхідності врахування національного менталітету в педагогічній діяльності, узагальнюються специфічні риси ментальності українців. Робиться акцент на тому, що українські дослідження зі становлення та розвитку поняття «ментальність» відбувалися паралельно зі світовими з урахуванням специфіки саме національної ментальності. Автори наполягають, що при виборі методики викладання, розробці методичної літератури у вищій школі, варто враховувати національний менталітет. Це сприятиме кращому засвоєнню матеріалу, створюватиме сприятливі умови для максимального інтелектуального, творчого розвитку студентів, а також зберігатиме основи національної педагогіки поруч із застосуванням передових надбань освіти Західної Європи та світу.

The formation and development of the concept of "mentality" in foreign and national scientific thought are investigated, the reasons for the need to take into account the national mentality in pedagogical activity are identified and specific features of the mentality of Ukrainians are generalized in the article. It is emphasized that Ukrainian studies on the formation and development of the concept of "mentality" took place simultaneously with the world ones having regard to specific character of the national mentality. It is argued that the traits of the Ukrainian mentality (emotionality, cordocentrism, individualism, appreciation of individual freedom, fatalism, tolerance, critical attitude to power, spirituality, etc.) need special attention from higher school instructors. The key role in reflecting the mental world of the nation, in particular understanding the meaning of phraseological units, is given to language. Researchers point out that Ukraine is a multinational state. Therefore, the mentality of national minorities living on the territory of our country may differ from the Ukrainian ones. The heritage left after centuries of division of Ukrainian lands between other states also differ. This has led to the fact that the elements of mentality and culture of other peoples have become the formative factors of the national mentality, especially at the regional level. All these changes, with the right approach, enrich our nation's cultural and mental resources, making it special and unique. The authors insist that national mentality should be taken into account when choosing teaching methods and developing methodological literature in higher education. This will contribute to better absorption of the material, create favorable conditions for the maximum intellectual, creative development of students, as well as preserve the foundations of national pedagogy along with the application of advanced educational achievements in Western Europe and the world. It is emphasized that the above mentioned components that influence the formation and development of traits of the Ukrainian mentality today should be taken into account by modern educators who work in higher education institutions to create favorable conditions for maximum intellectual and creative development of students.
